Group portrait of The Meiji Emperor (top right) and Empress (top left), along with dignitaries and members of their government. Between them a dragon emerges from smoke. Beautiful design that illustrates a moment of transition for Japan through the mix of traditional and Western clothing. Great detail, with embossing on the white kimono collars, and burnishing on the black uniforms.
